Rooted in legacy and leading with purpose, Sharell Monique Chatman exemplifies service, excellence, faith, and community uplift as the Zulu Queen-Select 2026. A proud alumna of Xavier University Preparatory School, Sharell went on to earn dual undergraduate degrees in industrial engineering technology and sociology from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, followed by a master’s degree in computer engineering from Colorado State University.
Now serving as an infrastructure planning official within the Engineering Department of Jefferson Parish government, Sharell plays a key role in process optimization and long-term infrastructure planning. She was unveiled on February 1, 2025, as the 2026 Zulu Queen, making a memorable entrance by leading a second line parade through Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
Selected by Zulu King-Elect 2026, Dr. Ron Tassin, Sharell is set to ride in the February 17 Mardi Gras parade, bringing vision, grace, and heart to this historic role.
