Latasha Skidmore, PrincipalWith nearly three decades of experience in education, Principal Skidmore has served as a classroom teacher, instructional leader, curriculum specialist, district administrator, and school principal across public, charter, and parochial educational settings throughout Louisiana. Her career has been dedicated to improving student achievement, strengthening instructional excellence, and fostering school communities where students can thrive academically, spiritually, and personally.
Since returning to Drexel Prep, Principal Skidmore has worked tirelessly alongside faculty, staff, alumni, families, and community partners to strengthen the school's academic offerings while honoring the traditions that have defined generations of Prep graduates. Under her leadership, the school continues to expand opportunities that prepare students for college, careers, and lifelong success.
Among her signature accomplishments is establishing Drexel Prep's partnership with the New Orleans Career Center (NOCC), making St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School the only Catholic high school in New Orleans to offer students direct access to NOCC's innovative career and technical education programs. Through this partnership, students can explore high-demand career pathways, earn industry-based credentials, gain hands-on experience, and graduate with valuable workforce skills while continuing to receive a rigorous, faith-based college preparatory education.
Principal Skidmore earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, with a minor in English, from Southern University at New Orleans. She also holds two Master of Arts degrees from Xavier University of Louisiana in Curriculum and Instruction (Reading Specialist) and Educational Leadership, as well as a Post-Master's Degree in Leadership and Accountability from Capella University.
A native of New Orleans, Principal Skidmore is passionate about developing young women of faith, scholarship, leadership, and service. She believes education extends beyond the classroom and is committed to creating an environment where every student is known, challenged, supported, and inspired to become the woman God has called her to be.
As both an educator, Principal Skidmore remains dedicated to advancing the mission of St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School—building upon its proud history while creating new opportunities for future generations of Prep women.
