We were thrilled to welcome Zulu King-Elect 2026, Dr. Ron Tassin, and Zulu Queen-Select 2026 and Drexel Prep alumna Sharell M. Chatman, ’05, to campus. Thank you for spending time with our scholars and sharing words of encouragement that inspire excellence, leadership, and pride in the Prep community.
Rooted in legacy and leading with purpose, Sharell Monique Chatman exemplifies service, excellence, faith, and community uplift as the Zulu Queen-Select 2026. A proud alumna of Xavier University Preparatory School, Sharell went on to earn dual undergraduate degrees in industrial engineering technology and sociology from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, followed by a master’s degree in computer engineering from Colorado State University.
Now serving as an infrastructure planning official within the Engineering Department of Jefferson Parish government, Sharell plays a key role in process optimization and long-term infrastructure planning. She was unveiled on February 1, 2025, as the 2026 Zulu Queen, making a memorable entrance by leading a second line parade through Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
Selected by Zulu King-Elect 2026, Dr. Ron Tassin, Sharell is set to ride in the February 17 Mardi Gras parade, bringing vision, grace, and heart to this historic role.
